From Heaven to Earth

Conductor: Kathrin Weinberger

What originated in 1979 from the idea of a common benefit for the Benedictine monastery and the market community has meanwhile developed into an important local cultural provider for this region, away from urban structures. In the meantime, this annual music festival with its innovative and varied program has advanced to become the largest and most important cultural event in Lower Carinthia, attracting many culturally interested people from near and far. For more than 40 years the responsibility for the St. Pauler Kultursommer lies with the
"Association of Friends of the St. Paul Summer of Culture" with its honorary board of trustees.
The St. Paul Summer of Culture, known as KUSO for short, also enables special and extraordinary encounters with artists at this special place of power with its extraordinary atmosphere. Creating playgrounds -
this is how the principle of the Cultural Summer can be described in a nutshell. Every year between Whitsun and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, both established and young musicians take to the stage. The program oscillates between well-known genres and niche music. Baroque and classical music have just as much room as contemporary compositions, jazz, and crossover projects. So-called KUSO-EXTRAS and KUSO-Cooperations provide additional insights into art, nature and culinary delights of a region that is somewhat off the beaten tourist track, but all the more rewarding to explore and experience.
